Trace (2019 - 2020)

In 2020 I made this series of abstract prints. Similar in form to fossils or shells, reminiscent of the contours found on maps, or geological studies, these shapes also reference bone, and human anatomy. They were a response to the work I had been making about walks in ancient landscape, and human impact. I have since discovered that ‘trace fossils’ are the preserved reminder of an action taken in the past; ‘they speak of life rather than death’. (David Farrier in his excellent book, Footprints, In Search of Future Fossils). With those prints I include here a number of monoprints that I made in 2019, unconscious tracks and fault lines in the paper.
